New Comic Book idea (WIP)

A new take on Superman type story, where guy, 30, drowns after saving people, and when he comes to, after “dying”, he realizes he is breathing underwater. He also finds he is able to go through metal and bend it as if it were paper. He then swims super fast and ends up sailing upward into the air. After some celebration, he realizes, he has a family and that he should go to them immediately, as he’s not sure how long he’s been out of it. At first, he figures it will be great for him to have these powers, and let his family know all about it, but he’s read lots of comics and remembers how if any villain ever got hold of the hero’s identity, he’d be able to threaten his family and friends.

He contemplates on whether he is the only one of his kind, if he does show himself to his family and he is the only one then he has nothing to fear, but if a villain that is as powerful as himself ever shows up, then he would spend all his time keeping his identity a secret and worrying himself sick that his family would be in constant danger. He blasts off, finding a mask and does some heroic deeds, finding the satisfaction of accomplishing these tasks a temporary replacement for not being able to spend time with his family. He checks in on them when he can, finally they are able to move on, but he sees that his wife is not trying to date or find a “father”..

As time moves on, and no villain shows up to be his equal, he begins to think he’d made the wrong decision of keeping his powers from his family. He begins to long for that simple life again, flying around saving lives is great, but it soon becomes a chore as people begin to rely on him to put out fires, save people from flooding, stop avalanches, stop bank robbers, he’s able to do it, but with no time for himself. Soon he finds himself quite lonely, so he visits a friend, who he knows will understand, or at least he hopes he will.

Actually the guy is single, and an even bigger video game, comic book nerd than the now superguy.  So he’s more excited at seeing superguy’s powers and all that than hearing what superguy is going thru emotionally. Superguy continually tries telling him what he’s going thru, and when the friend never seems to be getting it, he gets mad, and blasts off.
Friend commences to calling, texting, emailing all his friends, whose also mostly friends with superguy. They think he’s being goofy and basically ignore him, until he sees a cell phone video pop up on YouTube of superguy arguing with him and then taking off. The camera was situated so that you couldn’t see Superguy’s face, but the other friends begin texting and emailing him back about the video. But the friend continues rewatching and realizing what his friend was trying to tell him.

The friend decides that superguy needs a villain to occupy that empty space, so he figures he can try the same thing superguy did, by drowning himself. … However, it doesn’t work, and after police show up, the news picks up on the story, and superguy hears about it. Since superguy was last seen with him, they think he brainwashed the friend and made him kill himself, the others begin thinking the same thing, until one takes up for him.

After the video goes all over, people begin investigating trying to find who the superguy is, police begin questioning all the connections. Superguy figures he’d better stop it, otherwise someone is going find out who he is and who is family is, and go after them. He breaks his friends out of jail and take them somewhere safe, but that was a ploy to get him out, they try to capture him, and of course he escapes, he immediately goes toward his family, but they’re not at home, not at any of their parents’ homes……. Finally his mom meets up with him … in the air.

She tells him he’s a hard guy to catch up with, and he wants to know what is going on, and wants to know right now, especially after what’s happened to him in the past couple days. She begins to tell him the truth about there being only a handful of others like him, and he instantly asks why they hadn’t revealed themselves to him, and she says it was nice having a fresh face to step in and take some of the pressure for a while. And that the others took a much needed vacation, this really pisses him off, and goes berserk, knocking his mom away. She begins to figure that a lot of her decisions in the past have been grave mistakes, especially after seeing her first son become a superbeing, like herself.

As he flies, he begins trying to think back on his life and about how his mom was a superheroine, but he never knew it, so he decides to go back and begin asking more questions, now that he’s cooled off.

He goes back to their location, and she’s nowhere around, so he flies about, calling for her. Suddenly, a bright light shines on him from above, a huge helicopter hovers there, they call out his name, telling him they know who he is, and that he should come with them. He doesn’t trust them, but only asks one question, “Is my family safe?”

The guy that was speaking to him, reassures him, by telling him their names, and that they are safe. The superguy agrees to go so long as they show him his family and that they are really and truly safe. He goes into helicopter where they have a monitor, and it shows his family. Superguy is pretty paranoid and a bit confused, but he wants to be sure it’s a live feed, and wants someone to speak to them and ask them to do something.

They call into the place, a small room, and someone walks in and tells them all go stand on one side, and she takes a picture of them. The superguy had heard the other guy tell the person on the phone all of that, so he feels like they are safe, scared, but safe.

Superguy asks the guy what he wants him to do? Older guy only wants to ask a couple questions, first how’d he get his powers and if he used them to kill one of his best friends? Superguy manages to hold back his anger from hearing the second question. So he answers the first one sternly and while holding back tears. By the time he answers “No.” to the 2nd, tears are streaming down his face.

Older guy then asks if he is going to continue doing the things he’s been doing and not cause harm. Superguy tells him he will try, so long as people don’t become too lax and rely solely on him to do it all. Older guy asks him if he’s willing to meet with the world leaders and begin cooperating in an effort to bring about world peace and then help maintain it. Ever since they’d seen him doing the things he was doing, they’d all began talking and cooperating in wanting him to be on their side, but if meets with them and tells them that he’s willing to help everyone… Then world peace would be attainable. Superguy tells him he’ll try, so long as his family remains safe. Older guy tells him he gives him his word.

Things are rocky at first, as he travels to the Middle East, which seems to always be in the middle of a civil war, but once he realizes his power allows him to understand and speak pretty much any language, he begins settling things as brute force against him is useless, as no weapon ever seems to cause him any physical damage. The superguy figures he can pretty well hit the goal of world peace and probably in record time, but then what?...

Well it doesn’t take long before some of the other heroes get off their vacation, once they’ve discovered the Covenant, an organization committed to bringing about world peace no matter what. But the other heroes realize that if world peace is successful, there won’t be any reason for them to be around, other than doing boring construction type jobs. Main superguy just wants to keep his family safe and he figures world peace is best way to make sure that happens. The other supers end up becoming the villains, stopping main superguy from making world peace, as they sabotage, betray and otherwise wreak havoc, with superguy having to clean up the pieces. They make it look like superguy is the bad guy, with the Covenant trying to bring him in, but since he’s not harmed by any form of weaponry, they threaten his family, practically his only weakness.

Superguy is busted out by his mom, they fly to the moon, to talk, but they were followed, by a super that’s never revealed himself to the others or anyone for that matter. After a heated conversation, mom tells superson that she’s willing to help bring about world peace as well, and in order to do that, they’re going to have make an alien invasion happen. This confuses superguy as he’s still new to all this and wonders how they would make an alien invasion. She explains they’ve fought off plenty of alien invasions in the past, but there hasn’t been one in quite sometime, and she figures if they go to one of the races that had tried to invade them in past, and tell them they can try again, take a few hundred people, that pick out, mostly really sick people from the jails and such, and the other supers will fight back giving them a reason to leave, as mom and superguy help aliens escape with people.

So the deal is put into place, but aliens came packing way more heat than mom and superguy expected, they begin tearing into the planet with huge lasers and such. They zap up wayyyy more people, including superguy’s family, and they hightail out of there. World peace pretty much occurs as all the countries of the world begin helping one another out to rebuild, so the supers go after the aliens, 1 for payback, 2 to get a portion of humanity back!

The next arc covers the supers on their back to alien’s homeworld, but they are caught by another alien race, who pits them in a gladiator match. Superguy ends up having to kill one of the other supers, even though he didn’t like him, superguy is still wracked emotionally by the ordeal. They make a deal with the aliens in that they will help invade the other alien race, so that is put into motion, and as they descend upon the homeworld, the supers leave the aliens to fight amongst themselves, while they rescue the others.

During the rescue, thousands of aliens die, some of the humans die, and superguy figures peace on Earth isn’t going to be enough, they’re going to have to bring peace to the entire galaxy, maybe even universe.. On their way back to Earth, they have to stop and resupply, on this planet, they discover an ancient artifact. Humans are able to breathe, survive, so instead of trying to make it back to Earth, they decide to begin cultivating this planet, as it appears to be quite enormous and plentiful. The supers stick around helping with the beginning of buildings and civilization, and one decides to stay and be their guardian.

Superguy and mom trust them, also during this arc, superguy reveals himself to the family. They are all super happy and have a nice reunion with superguy’s mom. Yay! Happy ending …

Or is it??
